Long years back, before I left Austin to eventually start writing music for video games, I was a music arranger struggling to get my work played. One such work was an arrangement of a movement from a Beethoven piano sonata, done up for brass ensemble. Thanks to the generosity of my wife’s brother, James Baker, I was able to hear this work performed live by an ensemble he managed. This work is now up on YouTube, again thanks to his permission.
So, for your listening pleasure, I present to you Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 18 in E-Flat, Opus 31, No. 3, 3rd Movement, arranged for brass ensemble by yours truly and performed by the San Antonio Brass. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
