As I grow closer to finishing the transfer of my programs and settings from the old laptop to the new, I also grow closer to my re-entry into The Ubergroup on Scribophile. I’ve been looking forward to getting back into the book writing and critiquing grooves, although I won’t have anything of my own critiqued for the first cycle (see earlier post on beginning draft number eight of Tapper). The Ubergroup can be stressful, but it can also be fun depending on the works you critique. This time around, though, I’ll have a new Ubergroup responsibility: I’ll be a moderator.
I feel extremely honored to have been invited to be one of the group’s moderators. My duties will be limited at first, by my own request—I won’t be moderating an entire team, since I don’t want to overload myself and turn out to be a disappointment. I also intend on doing more listening (i.e., reading other moderators’ posts) than posting, although I may have already broken that resolution by commenting on new issues in a couple of moderator group discussion threads.
Anyway, I’m going to be very busy when the first week of the next Ubergroup cycle begins on Memorial Day. I’ll be critiquing for a team, learning the moderator ropes, and working on my latest Tapper draft. All of this, thankfully, on a speedy new laptop. It’s going to be interesting. 🙂
