Formula One Chews on Qualifying Format, Spits It Out

Posted on 2016-03-23 Written by D. Lee Jackson

According to a post on Speedcafe.com, the disappointing new Formula One qualifying system used in the Australian Grand Prix has been given the boot. The system was intended to encourage more drivers to take to the track, but instead resulted in a whole lot of no driving going on.

Speedcafe.com says F1 will revert to the 2015 qualifying format beginning with the next race, scheduled for the weekend of April 3rd in Bahrain. Good news indeed.

It’s going to be fun for Open-Wheel Racing fans on that weekend, with the IndyCar Phoenix Grand Prix running on the Phoenix International Raceway oval on Saturday night (April 2nd). I just hope my wife doesn’t schedule anything for us to do on that day. 😀
